To the astonishment of the doctors who examined him after his full recovery, he found that he had all the excellent qualities of health, except the loss of sight in the left eye, and a soft spot in his head where there was an incomplete fracture of the skull. It can be observed immediately and clearly, and this is what made Gage work in the closet most of his life, crossing his head pierced.

Gage died many years later with epilepsy, believed to be the result of an accident at the beginning of his life. His skull, which is now on display at Harvard University, is attached to the metal bar he has pierced.

His strange state is still raised today in the medical community. For some, it is considered a powerful slap in the face of medicine.
